    Question Passive or active

    Hi,

    Is the following sentence correct?

The farms grow corn and rice.

I think we should use "the farmers grow ..."
or "corn and rice are grown on farms" instead. Am I right?

    Thanks in advance

They are all correct. The best choice depends on your context. Who or what is the focus of your message? What are you trying to emphasize?

    Re: Passive or active

Thanks for answering my question. This sentence has been taken from a text about Brazil. The paragraph begins like this:

"Brazil has great forests. Rubber and wood come from them. The farms grow corn, beans, rice, sugarcane, and grapes.

my question is that can farms grow themselves? I think it is not a correct way to say "farms grow corn, beans, etc." Do you mean that it is correct to say "farms grow rice" right? Would you please explain it more?

    Re: Passive or active

I see what you are saying, but the sentence is correct, and a good choice of words, for this context.

This piece is talking about Brazil, so it is appropriate to refer to the parts of the country "providing" or "producing" things.

Specifically, "...farms grow..." is quite natural.
