    how to give an address

    Hello,
I am looking for some threads or websites to teach us the format of how we should write or give our address to a person or write on a letter.

    For examples:

    Door no
    zip code
    street name
    alley name
    province name
    etc.

I don't know the correct format. You know any reliable links?

Re: how to give an address

Each country has a different layout. In the UK, it's:

    Flat number (if applicable)
    House number + street name
    Name of town/city
    Name of county
    Postcode
Country (if sending the letter from abroad).

An address on an envelope would look like this:

    Mr J Smith
    Flat 6
    12 Cedar Close
    Southampton
    Hampshire
    SO16 8AJ
    [England]

At the top of a letter, it would look the same but without the person's name, and without the country.

[Cross-posted with Piscean, whose link is much more useful.]
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
