My mother tongue isn't English and I have been discussing with my friends(they aren't native English speakers) about the following sentence which was composed by an English-speaking teacher.
We have different opinions about this sentence and I really want to know how you think about the sentence.
The mayor of Florence is thinking of charging tourists to visit the city 1) because of 2) as a result of 3)on account of 4) as a consequence of the amount of wear and tear being caused to buildings.
We have two main opinions
1) the four options are grammatically correct and are properly used here.
2) the four options are grammatically correct but 2) as a result of and 4) as a consequence of seem a little bit weird being used here.
I would also like to know which option is the best and why.
