Question All but two countries in South America touch Brazil.

    Hi,

What does "touch" mean in the sentence below? Is it synonymous with "border on/upon"?

All but two countries in South America touch Brazil.

So, can we say that "all but two countries in South America have border on/upon Brazil."?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, it means "shares a border with".

You can say All but two countries in South America have a border with Brazil.

    Yes, exactly

"All but two countries in South America share a border with Brazil."

You could also use 'border' as a verb and say, "All but two countries in South America border Brazil".

Take care with your spelling. In addition, there is no need to write a new post to say "Thanks" to anyone. Simply click on the "Thank" button (as you have already done). It saves time for everyone.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
