You don't really need 'and make us fall'. Drop the 'or articles' and then it's OK if you are referring to things that are actually on the floor at the time of speaking. Otherwise, drop the initial 'The'.

Try keeping it very simple...
"Things on the floor can trip us and make us fall".
Or "We might trip over things left on the floor".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
