Question Go down a dead end

Hi. What does "to go down a dead end" mean? I suppose it means to find yourself in a situation that leads nowhere, so you need to change (if it is possible) your action(s) that led you there--am I right?

Re: Go down a dead end

You're right. A "dead end" is a route that leads nowhere -- a blind alley, a cul-de-sac, a no through road, or any road or passage that ends in a blank wall or some sort of barrier. The only way to get out of a dead end is to turn around and retrace your steps.

A "dead-end job" is a job -- usually a boring job -- with no prospect of any advancement of your career.
