from which you graduated vs which you graduated from

I've heard that in formal writing, you say "from which". For example,

    (1) We will meet at the school from which John graduated.

Is it grammatically wrong to put "from" at the end of the sentence?

    (2) We will meet at the school which John graduated from.

Please explain this. Thank you very much.

Re: from which you graduated vs which you graduated from

2 is not wrong but, as you said, in formal writing, 1 is more appropriate.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Re: from which you graduated vs which you graduated from

newlearn, you might as well simplify the things and say:
We will meet at the school () John graduated from.
