"I don't expect him to have been like me in his childhood".

"I don't expect him to have been like me in his childhood". Is this right when the intended meaning is "I don't expect that he was like me in his childhood".
If not, please tell me a way of putting it without using 'that' before the clause 'he was like me in his childhood'.

    Thank you.

I doubt he was like me as a child.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I think 'that' as a conjunction is optional before a clause, according to http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionarie...english/that_3
