    besides vs. apart from vs. except

    Can one say
    a. Everyone agreed with me except John.
    b. Everyone agreed with me besides John.
    c. Everyone agreed with me apart from John.

    ?

    It is obvious that in (a) John disagreed with me. How about the other two?
    I doubt that (b) works.

    You're right: b doesn't work. c does.
