Hi there,

Is there any adjective used for a handwriting that leaves almost no space between words?! (Almost illegible!)

Cramped handwriting leaves too little white space in general -- between words and letters.

Thanks a lot! And, now I'm curious to know what should be used for the one with too much space between the words? (Spacious?)

I've never heard an adjective to describe that.

NOT A TEACHER

Hello, Mehrgan:

I did some googling and found one Clifford Howard, who apparently coined (made up) his own term: diffuse writing.

He defines it as "ample space between words and between lines."

He also uses the adjective "crowded" instead of "cramped."

When you have time, please google the following: Diffuse writing (Plates 2, 7, 16).

(I think that Mr. Howard's article may interest you.)

White space is used to describe the spaces between lines, paragraphs, etc. I suppose you could say that there is too much white space.
