ground flush or ground off flush

Hello everybody!

Supppose that we have welded a hook on. Now the time has come for the hook to be cut off. Once the hook is cut off, remaining welds should be ground off flush or should they be ground flush?

What do you think?

I prefer the second, shorter version. The first is OK though.

Flush with what? If welds are to be removed as if the hook had never been welded on, then best to say the welds are to be removed by grinding, and the surface left flat to some more or less specific standard.

They mean the area where the hooks were should be neither a bump or a divot. It should be flush with the rest of the material of the part.

Flush is a comparative term. A surface cannot be flush with itself.
