    lap increments?

"Interval training involves running short bursts at a fast rate, followed by short recovery jogs. Your recovery can last up to twice as long as your hard intervals...I train on one track in my home town, measuring my hard intervals in lap increments, and my recovery jogs in quarter-lap segments."

What does it mean by "in lap increments" and "in quarter-lap segments"?

    Re: lap increments?

Presumably, one lap fast, then a 1/4 lap slower to rest, then 2 fast laps, a 1/4 slow, then 3...

    Re: lap increments?

I'm confused... Because it says "your recovery can last up to twice as long as your hard intervals". But it seems he does much more hard fast runs than slow jogs...

    Re: lap increments?

Yes, but the hard stuff takes less time because he's going faster, so the 1/4 lap could take more time.
