    He is inspecting the document/report...

    "He is inspecting the document/report" and "He is examining the document/report"

    "He is inspecting the car and "He is examining the car" [ should a comma need to be placed before 'and'? ]

    Please tell me which among the above are correct.

    No comma is needed.

    Was using 'among' incorrect because there were only two sentences 'among' was referring to? Would it have been correct had there been some more sentences?

    No, 'which of the above' would still have been correct.

    It's not incorrect. It's just not very natural. We don't use among very often, except in the fixed phrase among others. When another word works, you should generally choose it.
