    Hi,
    Is it acceptible to capitalize the first letter of a word that follows a semi-colon as the second sentence in the above? Thanks.

    No. You should capitalise the first letter after a semi-colon only if it's a proper noun or the first person singular pronoun.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
