What's happened to the old editor?

I'm really finding it difficult to work with the new editor. I find the markup tags highly distracting. Is there any way of reverting to the old-style editor please?

We have the old editor back, and it is working in my version of Chrome.

Ditto. No spacebar issues so far.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

The spacebar issue has returned for me, despite my up-to-date Chrome. Now that I know the workaround, I prefer the quick editor with this irritant over the quick editor minus both the irritant and the toolbar. However, I fear this problem will make some new users look elsewhere for help with their English.

Is it perhaps time to look at upgrading the site to vBulletin 5?

We will upgrade, though this may produce other issues- some features are add-ons, which may have compatibility issues. We had a problem with the Like button when there was a major upgrade. The webmaster will be looking into things like that.

    Yup. :)

In addition to what Tdol said above...

Since this will be a major-version upgrade, none of the old plugins will automatically work in the new system. We may well completely lose things like the Like button (this still hasn't been made available for vB5 yet) and other features that we all take for granted. Since these plugins are developed by third-parties there is no guarantee that the developers will actually ever make the upgrade.

In addition, there were also significant bugs and missing features in the initial releases of vB5 and I'm finding it hard to determine exactly what features have been restored. At this time if feels like there will be many challenges, and so we will not take this decision quickly.

Lastly, there will also be significant user interface changes as the new version is pretty different from the version we use.

Again, as Tdol said, we will definitely upgrade in time but to do so now would be asking for trouble. There's lots of preparation to do first, but rest assured we will be looking into it more urgently now as a result of this Chrome bug! :)
