    I pressed my fingers

This sentence is from my short story. I am not sure if it sounds natural. Is it correct to say "a sign of life" or "any sign of life"? Would you please take a look at it and correct my mistakes
I pressed my fingers deeper against his wrist, hoping to find a sign of life, but his tanned body remained lifeless.

    Re: I pressed my fingers

I would prefer "some sign of life".

    Re: I pressed my fingers

"... any sign of life" would work too.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: I pressed my fingers

I think I would use any there because you are pressing deeper, so you have already tried to find some sign of life and now are looking more desperately.
