Hello, can you tell me what is written in the paragraph in other words?"For Jews, the period following World War I in which Poland once again became an indpendence state, reflected the pre-partition autonomy as well as the anti-Semitism of the partitions."Besides, I don't understand - why at the first the writer used partition as "singular" and after that partitions as "plural". tHANKS.

Re: Can you please tell me the meaning of a sentence

In the first instance of partition, it's part of a compound attributive noun which modifies "autonomy". The phrase pre-partition autonomy means "autonomy before the partition". Attributive nouns are usually singular.

The second time partition occurs, it's plural because the writer is saying that each partition was anti-Semitic.

Remember to put a space after the last punctuation mark of each sentence, including a quotation mark. You can click "Edit" below your post and insert the missing spaces.
