    Lightbulb Syntax/Grammar

    Hello,

I require some assistance with a couple sentences please,

[The rioters [hold onto [the notion [that a physical protest is their right.]]] or [hold on [to the notion.]]]

1.In the above sentence is 'hold onto' or 'hold on'-'to the notion' a phrasal verb?

2.Subsequently, is 'to the notion' or 'the notion' a complement that is required of the phrasal verb?

3.Finally, is 'the notion' the direct object of 'hold onto' and is the 'nominal that clause' a clausal complement of the DO or the Verb?

I met a man who believes that he is Jesus reincarnated.

    1. Is reincarnated an object complement? and is the word class a verb or an adjective?

    Thank you.

    NOT A TEACHER

    1. Most of your questions were too hard for me, but I was able to do some research on the Web.

    2. I learned the following:

    a. He believes that he is the reincarnated Jesus. ("reincarnated" is used as an adjective.)

    b. He believes that he is Jesus reincarnate. (No "d" on the end. It is also an adjective. It comes after the noun.)
