had lived = had been living?

    Hi,

    http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/pastperfect.html

USE 2 Duration Before Something in the Past (Non-Continuous Verbs): Although the above use of Past Perfect is normally limited to Non-Continuous Verbs and non-continuous uses of Mixed Verbs, the words "live," "work," "teach," and "study" are sometimes used in this way even though they are NOT Non-Continuous Verbs.

Since it is not a grammar book, I'd like to ask you native speakers of English if that information is OK.

Is 'I had lived in that house for 10 years' the same as 'I had been living in that house for 10 years.' in the right context?

    Thanks.

I see no significant difference in meaning between the two forms.

The continuous form emphasizes the ongoing nature of the activity.

The author of the page shouldn't capitalize tense names.
