    I suggested that he went there.

    I suggested that he went there.
    He suggested to me that I took the oppurtunity.

    Are the above sentences correct? Please correct them if they are not.

    Many native speakers of BrE say such things.

    The more pedantic among us would use 'go' in the first and 'take' in the second.

    Note your typo in 'opportunity'.

    In American English, only go and take are possible.

    That's how Americans say it. Brits usually use the indicative went,​ which looks bizarre to Americans.

    Using "went" makes me think someone(A) is telling someone else(B) what he(A) supposed that B already did. Which is odd because if B already went there, he should know. Unless he has amnesia or something.
