Modal Verbs + III Conditional - is this sentence correct?

    The original sentence:
"They should be told what to do if they children had become defiant."

Is this transformation equivalent, or - at least - correct?
"They should be told what to do may they children have become defiant"

    Thank you in advance!

Re: Modal Verbs + III Conditional - is this sentence correct?

Where did you find the original sentence?

It's ungrammatical and needs to be corrected before any transformation can be attempted.
