    congratulation letter

I know it is correct to say 'a letter of congratulations' or 'a congratulatory letter'. But I'd like to know whether it is also correct or common to say 'a congratulation letter' or 'a congratulations letter'. Thank you a lot.

    No. Both phrases are unnatural.

    Re: congratulation letter

Thank you so much. Your answer reminds me that 'a letter of apology' is correct, but 'an apology letter' is unnatural. Yet it seems to me that 'an apology letter' sounds natural. Am I right?

Write a letter of apology. Oddly enough, an apology letter sounds marginally okay.
