    Even and Ever

    What's the difference between "I can't even remember seeing him smile." and "I can't ever remember seeing him smile."?

    With the first, you have probably mentioned several things that you can't remember about this person. You are adding one more thing emphatically: He's a miserable guy. I can't remember him cracking a joke or laughing out loud. I can't even remember seeing him smile.

    With the second, you are emphasis the point in a different way by using n't ever (never).
