    The negotiations between the government

I am wondering about these two sentences and their correctness. Are "neither" and "none" both grammatically correct? Would you please correct my mistakes?

    1. The negotiations between the government and the union have collapsed because neither of the sides wants to compromise.
    2. The negotiations between the government and the union have collapsed because none of the sides wants to compromise.

Re: The negotiations between the government

Number 1 is correct. Number 2 is not, because we only use none for numbers greater than two or for zero.
