my station / So I reorganized the station

Interview between a boss and a new teacher
What do you feel are your greatest strengths?

"My greatest strength is that I have a lot of initiative. I am always looking for a better way to do things at work that I feel would save the company money and I can always achieve my production quotas. For example, one time I was working at my station and I felt that I was wasting time by always having to walk to the other side of my station to get some parts. So I reorganized the station and my supervisor was really impressed as it increased my quota. I think one of my greatest strengths is as a problem solver. I have the ability to see a situation from different perspectives and I can get my work done even in the face of difficult obstacles. I also feel that my communication skills are top notch. In my perfect world, I would work with my teammates where we all are focused on a common goal and support each other."

    Hi,
"station" in the blue parts make me confused. I can't understand the blue parts very well. What are they talking about?

Do you know another alternative (another word) to be replaced by "station"?
    I don't know why I don't like "station".

Probably because it is not appropriate for a teacher. But then the interview you told us was with a new teacher was not with a new teacher. It had nothing to do with a teacher's work.

I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
