Exclamation "Good parents always put interests of family first."

"Good parents always put interests of family first."

What does 'interests' mean here? And what does 'put interests of' mean?

Is the #5 definition suitable choice?

    Say:

Good parents always put the interests of their family first.

The word "interests" here means their family's needs.
