Cheryl was at the spotlight room of the theater.

    Hello.

Are the following sentences grammatically correct?

"Cheryl was at the spotlight room of the theater. She was waving to Kelly, giving her the signs to follow the plan."

    Thanks.

Assuming Cheryl was inside the spotlight room, you should write that she was in it. At means she was near it, perhaps standing outside it by the door, and would not be natural except in very rare cases.

". . . the theater's spotlight room . . . ." might be more natural, and "a signal" or "the signal" would be better, too.

The room where theater lighting is controlled has many names, but "spotlight room" isn't one of them.

Glad you said that! I was wondering what to call it - and I used to work in a theater!

    Dear GoesStation and Charlie Berstein:

First of all, thanks for your help.

Are the following sentences grammatically correct?

"Cheryl was in the room where theater lighting was controlled. She was waving at Kelly, giving the signal to follow the plan."

    Thanks!

Yes, they are. I'd call that room the theater's control booth. Making that replacement will save you three words.
