Many more disabled people want to ride horses than you could imagine.

I have been very busy since I became a volunteer for the Riding for the Disabled Association. Every Saturday, I help to get the horses ready for the disabled riders. Many more disabled people want to ride horses than you could imagine.
    (from an exercise book)
I wonder if the third sentence is OK. Can it be changed to
There are more disabled people who want to ride horses than you can imagine?

    Thanks.

I'd say "Many more disabled people want to ride horses than you would imagine."
'Can' and 'could' don't work for me.

Your passive-voice version works for me if you replace can with would or might.

For some reason, for me, "than you could possibly imagine" is fine, but if you remove "possibly", it becomes clunky.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
