I would like to ask what "a shudder of surprise shot through him" means. Would you like to expand on it?

Thank you.

Which specific parts are confusing you?

Note my corrections above. Your sentence starting with "I would like to ask ..." is not a question so shouldn't finish with a question mark. You needed "means" not "mean".

What does XXX mean?
I want to ask you what XXX means.

Should I also add you there? I am asking the meaning of the sentence.

Thank you.

No, you don't have to add "you". I chose to.

I know you're asking about the meaning of the sentence. That was clear from post #1. I am trying to ascertain if there are particular words or strings of words you're having trouble with. Do you know what a shudder is? Do you know what surprise is? Do you understand how something (like an emotion) can "shoot through" someone.

(Cross-posted with GoesStation who has, luckily for you, just given you the answer.)

shudder: An almost pleasurable sensation. This does not make more sense to me. Is it also "a little pleasurable feeling" ? I do not know how something can shoot through someone so would you like to explain how something can shoot through someone?

Thank you.

A shudder is usually not pleasurable. Shoot through means to pass through rapidly.

Shoot through means to pass through rapidly.

But here these words should all be figurative and expression should mean "live in the brain or experience something."

Thank you.

It has nothing to do with anything living or being in the brain. What made you think that?

Because passing through is a physical situation but here nothing pass through person but the person feel it.

Thank you.

It's a metaphor.
