    Meaning of a sentence

Hi, I am asking about the meaning of the following sentence,
"A lot number is an identification number assigned to a particular quantity or lot of material from a single manufacturer."

    - The part in Bold,
Does it mean "a particular quantity from a single manufacturer or lot of material from a single manufacturer"
or "a particular quantity orlot of material from a single manufacturer."?
