After we drank up our coffee

I am not sure if my sentence sounds natural. Would you please correct my mistakes?

After we drank up our coffee, Anna looked into the coffee grounds in my cup to see what the future was going to bring.

Or should it be the past perfect:

After we had drunk up our coffee.....

Re: After we drank up our coffee

I wouldn't use "drunk up" at all. Although we say "Drink up!" to people, it's usually to hurry them along and get them to finish their drink quickly.

After we had finished our coffee, Anna looked at the [coffee] grounds in my cup.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
