You bit off one of the star's point

Son (partially biting off a small piece of a piece of honey star cereal): I bit off one of the star's.... what's this?

Parent: Point. You bit off one of the star's point.

    Is it called a point?

Also, is this correct: partially biting off a small piece of a piece of honey star cereal?

Re: You bit off one of the star's point

I've always understood the point to mean the actual point (as in the vertex) of the star. That's why I was unsure and against my better knowledge more inclined to refer to the bitten off piece as an arm, but I've never heard of anyone refer to it that way. Would arm have worked?
