    car center dashboard terms



    My child is asking. What do you call button labeled A/C, the sliding lever beside it, and the button beside the lever? How about those 3 knobs below them? I don't want the technical terms, just how you might refer to them in casual conversation.

    Also, do you call the things beside and below the cigarette lighter receptacle a drawer?

    A/c speed control lever
    the round knobs are also called dials
    ashtray
    storage compartment

    The sliding lever is for recirculation. This is normally a button, as the dampers are motorized. I guess this is not the case here, and you are physically opening and closing it with this slider.

    The three round controls I would call the Temperature, Fan Speed, and Mode.

    You could refer to them all as the climate controls. The thing beside the cigarette lighter is most likely an ashtray.
