    half recognized

They moan about pollution, traffic, the overcrowding on the tubes and irregularity of the buses in London. Yet remove them from its soaring heart and they feel diminished and return with a sense, only half recognized, of coming home.

It is from a book called London from Dawn to Dusk.

What does the underlined part mean in this context?

    Thanks!

    Jason

They feel like they're back in their own home but they're not completely aware of the feeling.

    Re: half recognized

I'm surprised "half recognised" wasn't hyphenated.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Thanks!

Could I ask why I cannot post a new question although I log in with the correct password?

    Is my account disabled?

    Looking forward to your reply!
