Question The music to which we listened was good

What is the role of "to" sentence below? However, can we use the "to" after the "listened" instead of before the "which"? Thanks in advance.

"The music to which we listened was good."

    Re: To Role

It's a preposition. The sentence is formal and old-fashioned; most people nowadays would put the preposition after listened.
