It is difficult to prove the veracity

I am wondering if my sentence sounds natural.

It is difficult to prove the veracity of the accusations levelled against the President.

It's fine. For information, the BrE spelling would be "leveled".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

That's also the American spelling. I thought the British version would double the L.

Re: It is difficult to prove the veracity

My Longman dictionary uses two "l" for the British spelling and one for the American.

Not for this speaker of BrE.

Re: It is difficult to prove the veracity

How odd. For some reason, it's always been in my brain as an exception to the usual rule. If I see "traveled", for example, I know it's AmE, but I've always used "leveled" and thought it was an anomaly.
