    perform within

    Hi,

What does "perform within 10%" mean in the sentence below? Does it means "about"? Does the sentence mean that "distributed resource exchange algorithm" outperforms (by 10%) the centralized approach?

    Thank you

We show that the collaborative distributed resource exchange algorithm performs within 10% (in terms of system utility)
of the centralized approach with significantly reduced complexity.

P.S. The source is not available on internet, it's a part of an article of which I don't know the title.

    Re: perform within

No. It means the algorithm's results, on average, are within 10% of the results of the centralized approach. The text doesn't say that one or the other is better on average.
