    measure meaning

In the experiment, they measure accurately and record
    the results in detail.

I have looked up the meaning of "measure" in dictionaries. However, I could not find the meaning of it. Could anybody help, please?

Please note that I need to explain the meaning of measure in the above sentence to a kid.

They determine the weight, size, capacity, etc, of something.

Thanks Piscean. Can you give me a synonym of measure in the said sentence?

    Re: measure meaning

For an experiment, I think you can say "take readings" of the things involved in the study.
I am not a teacher or a native speaker.

That sentence doesn't look right to me. Can you tell us where you found it? The object of "measure" seems to be missing.

    Re: measure meaning

It's fine as it is for me. No matter what they're measuring, "they measure accurately and record the results in detail".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
