This is refers to your observation on water discolouration for curing/backfilling, we had investigated and found that the tanker which you witnessed was having some rust. In addition, we also observed another water tanker from the same source of water which not shows any discolouration. We collected a sample from both water tanker for chemical analysis testing to the third party laboratory test.

As per your instruction, Construction Supervisor returned that tanker immediately. However, we emphasized our constuction team not to use that water tanker (rusted one) until the testing is completed.

Rust consists of suspended particles which do not really change the colour of the water, unlike soluble chemicals.
I would call the mixing of rust and water "contamination" rather than "discolouration".

What do you mean by "curing/backfilling water"?

1. Concrete structures shall be cured (Adding water) for 7 days from the date of casting in order to achieve the higher strength.
2. Backfilling water used for soil compaction to fill up the porous between soil particles.

The allowable TDS for Curing and backfilling water as per specification is 500 ppm and 10,000 ppm respectively.
