mascot for Knick Knacks. thought it would look nicer with just two. dunking it

Child: Why is there a clown here?

Parent: Well, it's just the design of the bag. That clown is sort of the, um, mascot, for Knick Knacks.

    Child: Why?

Parent: Well, they must have decided on that. Maybe the people who make Knick Knacks like clowns.

Child: Why are there only two fish?

Parent: There's really no reason for that. Maybe the one who drew the packaging thought it would look nicer with just two. But, if you look closely, you'll see the clown actually has another fish on one hand. And he's dunking it in that milk.

Would the answers above sound like something a native speaker would have said?

The person who, rather than the one who, is natural in this context.

I also have a doubt about the naturalness of mascot, but am not sure what to replace it with. Logo doesn't seem right. I guess the "um" makes mascot okay.

I do not see the rationale in having fish in the picture, unless it is one of the ingredients in the biscuits.

Ted, I'm guessing the cookies themselves are fish-shaped.

Edit: This page seems to suggest they are, although it doesn't actually show the package label, but the blog title suggests it's a picture of Knick Knacks.

I'm not personally familiar with them as they're not sold in the US.

I came to the same conclusion. This page describes the strawberry-flavoured ones as "Delfi Knick Knacks Strawberry Flavored Coated Fish Biscuits".
