How to answer this question (which tenses are acceptable?)

    Hi all

This is a TOEFL Speaking activity I found online.

    The question is

You have just returned home after a long journey. Talk about the person you have missed the most and why you have missed them. Include details and examples to support your response.

An advanced student of mine answered in the simple past, saying something along the lines of:

I missed my kids the most because my kids are the most important people in my life ...

However, my initial reaction would be to answer it along the lines of:

    A) I will have missed my kids the most...

    or

    B) I have missed my kids the most...

    or maybe even

    C) I would have missed my kids the most ....

Which options are correct and why?

    Many thanks!

Please click on "Edit Post" and add all the missing spaces. When you cut and paste text, it frequently loses some of the spaces. You need to check the layout before you post.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

The scenario places you in the time just after your return. Therefore you're at home, remembering how you felt while you were away. The simple past was the natural tense for the narrative.

The question also should have used the simple past.
