    articles

    Hello everyone,
I was wondering if you could help me. I have a stupid question. In my book it is written:
'Read part of an article about presentation disasters'
there is only one part of the presentation. Why is there no article before 'part'? And why 'an article' not 'the'?
Thank you very much in advance.

    Re: articles

You can replace "part of" with "some of". No article is necessary.

The instruction is a little ambiguous. It's not clear if it's "an article about presentation disasters" and the instruction is to read just part of it, or if it's an (unspecified) article which has a part about "presentation disasters".

"Read part of an article about presentation disasters" would suggest the former.
"Read the part of an/the article about presentation disasters" would mean the latter.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
