Emma had a sprained ankle, however...

I'm unsure about my answer in rephrasing the sentence, using ‘however'. For this question, the position of ‘however’ is fixed; I cannot reposition it.

Question: Emma continued in the race in spite of her sprained ankle.

My answer: Emma had a sprained ankle, however she continued in the race.

    Thank you.

There must be a semi-colon before 'however'?

Please note the correct way to ask your question.

There must be a semicolon or a full stop (period).

There needs to be either a semi-colon or a full stop before "however/However".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
