    diversity v. form v. kind v. sort v. variety

    1. "The variety of sharks is really amazing." which is the original.

I would like to ask for this context which of the following nouns are identical in meaning with variety, i.e synonymous?

    2. "The diversity of sharks is really amazing."

    3. "The kinds of sharks are? really amazing."

    4. "The forms of sharks are really amazing."

    5. "The sorts of sharks are really amazing."

And what will be your different alternative as synonym to variety ?

    Thank you

None of them is an exact synonym.

But for just above context it seems to me that diversity and variety are synonyms.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.
For me, "the variety of sharks" refers to the different sub-species which exist within the shark family, and "the diversity of sharks" refers to things like their different eating habits, habitats, mating methods and lots of other things.
