Gina played with her husband like a cat

I am not sure if my sentence sounds natural. Would you please help me and correct my mistakes?

Gina played with her husband like a cat with a mouse, and then she pounced, demanding a divorce.

Re: Gina played with her husband like a cat

I'd make it two sentences and remove and.
    I am not a teacher.
