    drives well - works well

My car is quite old but it still drives well.
Can I also express myself this way:
My car is quite old but it still works well.

Re: drives well - works well

I hear a slight difference in meaning. It works well means that it has no mechanical problems. It drives well means it's pleasurable to drive; it handles well, sticks to the road, etc.
    I am not a teacher.
