I awoke to a grey morning

I am wondering if my sentence sounds natural.

I awoke to a grey morning and the steady rain pattering the window.

Re: I awoke to a grey morning

    'pattering on ...'

    Patter is intransitive.

Re: I awoke to a grey morning

    or "pattering against ..."
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Re: I awoke to a grey morning

This sounds better to me but is less concise.
I awoke to a grey morning sky and the steady pattering of rain against my window.
