Paul will *do/take* the senior high school entrance examination...

Paul will *do/take/give/hold* the senior high school entrance examination on July 8 and 9. (from my text paper)
The answer is "take". However, Oxford Dictionary says it's OK to say both do and take an exam. Is it really correct to use "do" here? Thanks!

Only take is natural in American English. The verb used for completing a test varies among varieties of English, though; maybe do is possible in other variants.

It's "take an exam" or "sit an exam" in BrE.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

This speaker of BrE would only sit or take examinations, but do seems acceptable.

    do is fine for me.

I think of do and sit to refer to performing the task (She's doing her exam tomorrow morning.) whereas take may refer to the entire process of applying/registering/doing, etc. (You should consider taking the exam.)
