Once completed, the propeller was made ready for the new cast tip sections to be ....

    Hello!

Due to the extreme nature of the bend, straightening was performed in several stages over a two day period. Once completed, the propeller was made ready for the new cast tip sections to be welded into place.

My understanding of the bolded sentence is as follows:

As soon as it (the straightening?) was finished, the propeller was prepared for welding the new cast tip sections into place.

    or

As soon as it (the straightening?) was finished, the propeller was prepared in order that the new cast tip sections could be welded into place.

    or

As soon as it (the straightening?) was finished, the propeller was prepared for the purpose of welding the new cast tip sections into place.

Am I far from the truth? Do I get it right?

    Thank you.
