    bound herself - alternatives

I need some alternatives for the phrase "had bound herself" in the sentence below.
With that she had bound herself to him.

    What did this binding involve?

    Re: bound herself - alternatives

    Hi.
I have no idea what this binding involves. I found this sentence including it's German translation in a textbook of mine.
But it was a single sentence without any context.

Then we don't know exactly what it means, so we can't find alternatives.

    Re: bound herself - alternatives

"She had lashed/tied herself to him."
"She had contracted herself to him."
"She had promised to marry him."
"She had ensured that their future(s) would be shared."

    Re: bound herself - alternatives

Let me make a supplement for the context.
He gave her a lot of money. With that, she was bound herself to him.
What would be like alternatives to the phrase "bound" then?

Was the original written in English?
